The Creator
Tom Goldschmidt is the artist and creator of beautiful contemporary, yet timeless solid timber hand basins, each one as unique as the reclaimed timber it is created from.
After many years of woodturning and crafting sculptural and functional pieces from Australian reclaimed timber, Tom has taken his art and skills in a new direction. Employing traditional woodworking techniques Tom’s sculptural sinks are aesthetic and sensual in design, whilst the beauty of this once living material is enhanced and articulated. The result being well crafted, supremely finished unique pieces bringing beauty and grace to your home.
Tom works exclusively with Australian reclaimed timbers. He produces a standard range, design series and one off pieces. Each and every sink regardless of the range is unique and finished to the highest standards.
The Basins
AquaLigna is a handmade bathroom basin made from Australian reclaimed Eucalypts. These timbers are famous for their durability and beauty. They are individually shaped applying traditional wood turning techniques. Naturally occurring hollows as well as cracks are filled with epoxy resin. The basin is then water-proofed before three coats of a UV resistant polyurethane are applied. This is the hardest and most durable coating currently available, made in Australia and completely non-toxic.
The AquaLigna basin is tested with all products commonly used in a bathroom and stands up to boiling water as well. However, acetone which is used in nail polish removers can have a detrimental effect on the surface. Due to our tests we are proud to offer you 7 years warranty on the surface coating. If the surface is damaged, we can restore it to its initial beauty. The basin is easily cleaned with warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth. Do not use harsh cleaners and scourers.
The AquaLigna range is available in 450mm and 400mm diameter. The height is 130mm. Customised seizes are available. We have a 6-8 week lead time.
Fitting/Waste Specifications
All Sinks are fitted with a 40mm CP pop down waste and an 8mm threaded insert for ease of fixing.
Cleaning and Caring
Clean your hand basins with warm soapy water and soft microfibre cloth avoid using scourers and/or other abrasive utensils as they will damage the surface.
